Beirut City Center

An article in ArabianBusiness.com today shared some information about Beirut City Center shopping mall which is located in Hazmieh and expected to open early in 2013.

The mall will house 200 stores including the first Carrefour hypermarket in Lebanon, in addition to 40 international restaurants, cinema theaters, and a family entertainment center. There’s no confirmation however whether IKEA will be opening there or not, and I really hope it does!

I’m surprised by the British spelling of “Centre” instead of the American “Center” which the Lebanese typically use..

I am surprised too Mr.Mustapha that you only saw this small word in a huge project that will be successful. I am proud to be Lebanese.

I honestly prefer that such big malls be located outside of urban and usually crowded places … In all european countries, such malls are usually on the suburbs for 1) preventing traffics (the case of the Dora mall for instance) and 2) creating jobs for people to avoid them going to the already crowded city (along with the interesting taxes that local municipalities can get)…

But it is always the case in Leb: No organization …

I definitly agree! Specially that Spinney’s is on the other side of this max 8m road. That’s called Urban Planing. It’s sad that we’re not even close.

Yeah true but the difference between Lebanon and Europe is that Lebanon is a very small country and if we have to build malls outside cities we will have to remove the left green places in Lebanon and this will be a huge prob. Our only prob if that Lebanon is a small country not more not less and not because other countries are better than us. Have a good day 🙂
