Joe Maalouf sues a Lebanese blogger

So much for calling his show “Enta Horr”! And I hope MTV Lebanon is aware of what this guy is doing!

After bashing Joe Maalouf for his show that caused pain, hardship and torture to 36 innocent Lebanese men, and suggesting rumors were floating that he might be a closeted gay man himself, the heroic freedom fighter with the show title “Enta Horr” (you are free) filed a lawsuit against this blog and several others. The legal proceedings went unbelievably fast (most definitely bribes + political corruption) and in a matter of days, we were being sought after by the Lebanese security apparatus (research-wise that is… who we are, what we do, etc.)

My favorite part was when someone representing him said “Joe Maalouf ma byontal” (Joe Maalouf is untouchable). That was when I felt disgust and pity to this hypocrite of a bigoted homophobe. He has a prime time show on TV that is supposed to protect individual rights, freedoms and freedom of expression. But, when folks express themselves freely, he does miracles to try and land them in jail.

inno he has the right to offend anyone who is trying to destroy him by spreading rumours :”gay…” about him.

    • Rami November 21, 2012 at 2:37 pm #

Questioning whether he’s gay or not is not insulting to him.

Tfuuuuuuuuuuh, tell Joe maalouf when you see him he’s gonna get anal himself and that gays are going to increase in number in Lebanon

Being gay is not the subject here obviously, but that guy is.
I will not watch MTV again as long as he works for them !
If a tv station trusts someone like that with air time then it’s not worth my time.
You reap what you sow Joe !

Haha, how silly…you will not watch MTV anymore if he keeps on working there, because he sued a blogger who is claiming that he is a gay (nothing is wrong with gays but one who is gay for sure will not be happy to be tagged as a gay (in Lebanon this reputation is enought to distroy somebody’s image and this is why people are spreading such rumours around Joe))

you missed the point tarek, it’s not about the lawsuit, it’s about how small of a person he is, how hypocrite and insecure and how he would go out of his way to increase his show’s ratings even if it meant insulting, abusing and degrading thousands of people… the first rule of freedom is live and let live, and all he does is come up with misleading stereotypical stories about the taboos of our society to gain the respect of the conservative majority, and to top it all off, all of this bullshit is in the name of freedom “Enta 7orr”…. tfeh

Right on point Elie! Thank you.
And Tarek, do you really expect more explanation ? What part of “being gay is not the subject ” is so hard to understand? I hope you understood Elie’s version though.

    1. It seems that somebody here is using multiple fake identities…cannot prove it but it is weird that all the comments (not including mine) are extremely negative (extreme opinions are always the minority in any society fa kif se2abet inno kill il comments are extreme!!!)
    2. The following statement mentioned in Rami’s article clearly proves that “being a gay” is part of the subject here: “…suggesting rumors were floating that he might be a closeted gay man himself, the heroic freedom fighter with the show title “Enta Horr” (you are free) filed a lawsuit against this blog”.
    3. The comments that are posted against this guy in this page are just insults lacking any kind of objectivity:
“Tfuuuuuuuuuuh, tell Joe maalouf when you see him he’s gonna get anal himself and that gays”; “I will not watch MTV again as long as he works for them ! If a tv station trusts someone like that with air time then it’s not worth my time”; “small of a person he is, how hypocrite and insecure “.
These are just extreme emotions that are coming from some people who seems to have some conflict of interest with him.
    4. This blog loses its credibility when it is biased towards or against some party/person and especialy if the reason is personal (claim against this blog).
    5. The topics that this show is addressing are problems that our society faces everyday but nobody takes it public or tries to resolve it because simply people are used to be treated as ghanam in Lebanon and they turn their back on all the trespasses that politicians/ zi3ran do. Whether he is doing this to gain more credibility or not, he is doing a good job in reminding the viewers that they are paying the salary of all the public servants out there (politicians, public sector employeess, etc…) most of whoom use their positions to increase their fortune and don’t give a damn about the future of Lebanon nor about its people.
    6. “all he does is come up with misleading stereotypical stories about the taboos of our society to gain the respect of the conservative majority”. I don’t believe that the following stories (documented with videos) are misleading:
    a. The story with the following conclusion: In order to keep them under control and to reduce rape and crime incidents, expats (especially syrian and egyptian labors) in Lebanon shall be registered in every city with their address, mobile number, place of work, etc..
    b. The story with the following conclusion: raw meat in lebanon is handled in a very bad way…
    c. The story with the following conclusion: Many public schools in lebanon are in a very bad shape and the government is not allowing in its budget a sum to fix them…
    d. They conducted a test on water bottles that is circulating in the market and it appeared that the majority of it is polluted
    e. Several criminals were cought based on videos shown in this programs (the latest was a gang caught last week)
    f. Drug’s scandal (well known)
    g. kissarat scandal ( the 100’s of millions of dollars that “A politician” will get because his kissara was closed for 6 month because it was operating illegally).

Not exactly true joe had rumors being spread and he was gay and it isn’t exactly a crime if he gets mad at some1 who claims that he is gay bcz the problem is in Lebanon they’re so literal freedom has its limits and calling some1 gay is crossing those limits and its rlly not an honorable reputation tone gay in Lebanon.
