Lebanon is soon getting proper addressing

beirut streets

According to tweets by minister Nicolas Sehnaoui, a bid will soon be launched for addressing of Lebanon in order for homes and workplaces to get proper addresses.

So hopefully in a few months from now, you will no longer have to tell people where you live or work based on directions like “teilit mafra2 3al shmeil” or “bi wijj mini market abou afif”!

We already don’t have to, but the problem is that not everyone knows how to say his adress properly because they are not used to it since there aren’t any propper signs.
However, there is a proper adress for each Lebanese such as : Bouchrieh, Secteur 6, rue 68, immeuble 4, etage 3. In some places we ven have zones in colors..

Anyways, I hope this actualy works out… Sahnaoui does not seem to be taking care of what is most important so he might as well take care of a case like that! LOL.

This is true in some areas, not all. My house or street don’t even have names.

How does one look up one’s own home address?

This project should include proper training for taxi drivers who, from my exsperience, can not read maps.

Thanks for posting. But Sehnaoui’s tweet says addresses will be issued “a few months” AFTER the bid will be conducted.

Time from tender to selection, to project beginning to project ending could take much longer than a few months.

Experience with official announcements shows that “months” can mean years: http://www.beirutreport.com/2013/05/when-will-fiber-be-ready.html

    Great post,

However, there are details that have not been mentioned! NavLeb Company is responsible for the addressing project and we have provided details via our recent article: http://www.businessnews.com.lb/cms/Story/StoryDetails.aspx?ItemID=2983

Cities with nonexistent addresses are not a problem as we have created integrated uniform addresses for each city/area.

Check it out and we will keep you all up to date on new cities for which the addressing has been implemented.

We will also be launching a search portal for everyone to be able to search their own addresses very soon!
