Heyoka Arabic Productions

Most of what I watch on TV at home are foreign movies and series that I get from torrent websites, and except for a couple of shows, I rarely follow Lebanese TV channel because most of their stuff are either pointless like the famous talk shows or utterly stupid like the murex d’or worthy drama series.

However, I’ve been recently loving some of the Lebanese content I’m finding on Youtube and Facebook and the ones I follow the most are the shows produced by Heyoka, a collective founded by a group of movie enthusiasts. They currently have two main shows, Movie Court presented by Anis Tabet and Daniel Habib, and Kazdoura presented by George Khalaf and Stephanie Atallah. The two shows are really simple, one reviews movies and the other is about street food, but I personally find them more entertaining than anything on TV.

Anis and Daniel are quite knowledgeable about the film industry and you got to enjoy the episodes they do to butcher some Lebanese movies, and apart from that they sometimes host Lebanese actors/directors for interesting talks about their work and the movie industry in Lebanon. On the other hand, George and Stephanie have a cool chemistry in Kazdoura, they have a good taste and it’s always funny to watch them tease each other in each episode.

Other projects they were involved in also include “El3ama malla show” featuring Ghayd Chammas a few months ago which was also pretty cool to follow.

You can follow Heyoka’s new videos on their Youtube channel as well as on Kazdoura’s Facebook page and Let’s Talk About Movies page.

“Bebalee” Is An Insult to Fayrouz’s Career

Fayrouz’s new album “Bebalee” has been out for three days, but unlike her previous albums, this one is yet to make any buzz be it online or on radio stations.

I did listen to the album and was unfortunately quite disappointed. Adaptation of foreign songs using silly lyrics is the worst you can expect from an icon like Fayrouz, and the only one to blame is definitely her daughter Reema Rahbani who seems to have produced this album to just prove to her brother Ziad that she can actually create something regardless the quality or the artistic value. “Elak aw eli aw mish la shi, mish la shi, wala ayy shi” is exactly what you would in Arabic call saff 7akeh.

Fayrouz did perform songs with light lyrics in the past (e.g. Kifak enta malla enta) but in my opinion she never delivered something as mediocre as Bebalee.

I really hope she makes it up in the near future by working again with her son Ziad.

Some Lebanese Movies Are Available for Streaming

mmedia

Everytime I landed on M Media’s website I never went beyond watching the trailer they have of Bennesbeh Labokra Chou, but I recently browsed their film section and was surprised that they actually made several Lebanese films available for streaming.

Among the titles you will see Blind Intersection, One Man Village, Cash Flow and many others, in addition to some foreign movies as well such as “A Separation”.

Playback is available in HD, and if your connection doesn’t help then you can avoid buffering problems by using some browser extension to download the movies and watch them later.

You can check M Media’s film section by clicking here.

Xriss Jor performance on The Voice

Xriss Jor is a Lebanese contestant on the Arabic version of “The Voice” currently being aired on MBC. Judging by her first performance, she looks so talented and promises to hopefully make it to the final rounds.

You can follow and support Xriss on both of her twitter account and Facebook page. I have no idea by the way why does she write her name this way…

This menu will leave you in awe!

I really can’t believe someone can be that bad in English… the menu items are just unreal!

Tabboush snack is a proof that sucking at translation is not exclusive to Egyptians and Syrians (with all due respect), apparently Lebanese too can do a terrible job sometimes. The place offers Urination, Bebse, Duonas, Zaluoaa, Flesh, Black chickens, and a lot more… check for yourself.

According to my friend who provided the photos, Tabboush made 25,000 copies of the menu… so there’s 25,000 copies of this thing possibly roaming the streets of Beirut and ready to massacre your brain at anytime!
