Giveaway Day 13 – Two $40 Vouchers from Crepaway

Crepaway is in for giveaway #13 and their cool people are generously providing two $40 vouchers to be used at any of their branches.

I recently really loved the new items they added to their menu especially the ones with far eastern flavors (Kim Chick Fries anyone?), and for burger lovers they just launched the “Thrilling Raclette Burger” which will be available for a limited time. I tried it yesterday and the first thing I thought about when I was done was wishing to have it permanently on their menu! The burger is made with Angus beef, potato hash brown, a spread of steak sauce, lettuce, tomato, and the right amount of melted Raclette cheese that is added on top by the waiter just as you get served. Needless to say the combination works really good with the beef and cheese doing all the talking while still letting you feel the crispy hash brown and the special steak sauce they used. I highly recommend you try it before the promotion ends.

Anyway enough burger talk! To qualify for the draw, just go to +961’s page on Facebook and interact with the giveaway’s post. Two winners will be randomly chosen and announced tomorrow morning, and I will message them for instructions to claim the vouchers.

Giveaway Day 9 – Two $50 Vouchers from Chili’s

Today’s giveaway is provided by Chili’s Achrafieh. This place is dear to my heart for two reasons, first because my friends and I had awesome gatherings during our teenage years there, and second because I also go there during major sports events to root for my favorite teams.

Like a typical American diner, Chili’s is known for serving dishes with huge portions and that’s why you can best enjoy the place if you go in group and share several platters.

My personal favorite item on their menu has to be the sizzling fajita which I consider as one of the best in town. Every time I crave its juiciness and unique seasoning I usually go there and share it with my wife along with a salad, and the combination never disappoints… Add to that a Cherry Coke and the whole thing is guaranteed to make your day!

Anyway, on to the giveaway! The people at Chili’s are offering 2 vouchers worth $50 each, and as usual all you have to do is go to +961’s page on Facebook and interact with this giveaway’s. Two lucky winners will be chosen tomorrow morning and I will contact them for more details on how to claim their vouchers.

Giveaway Day 2: Two $50 Roadster Diner Vouchers

It’s the second day of the giveaway series and Roadster Diner are pitching in today with a couple of $50 vouchers to be spent at any of their branches. For this giveaway I will be randomly choosing two winners to get one voucher each.

What I love the most about Roadster is the homie feeling you find at their outlets, it’s more like a comfort place for me and I guess a lot of people my age feel the same way.

For lent season by the way, Roadster Diner is offering two types of value meals, the delivery meal for two ($20) with a variety of seafood and vegetarian sandwiches, and the dine-in meal ($15) with also a variety of non-meat items. Both options are served with a half appetizer portion per person and are quite fulfilling.

To qualify for the draw, go to +961’s page on Facebook, like the giveaway post and tag your friends in a comment. Two winners will be randomly chosen and announced tomorrow morning, and I will message them for instructions on how to claim their vouchers.

Roadster Diner launching a new burger: Route 66

To celebrate their 15th anniversary, it came to my knowledge that Roadster Diner will be launching a new burger called Route 66. So I asked the cool people at Roadster about it and was informed it will be made out of 250g of American prime beef, lettuce, melted cheddar cheese, sweet red onion, fresh tomato, pickles, and the new R 66 sauce.

I also got the below photo of it (click to enlarge) which shows that Route 66 will be served with the usual coleslaw salad, in addition to crunchy potato dipper and a sour herbs special dip for a change.

I personally haven’t had a burger since Ramadan started, and the Route 66 seems like a good one to have after Eid!

Hotdog & Beyond

Hotdog and beyond (7)

Earlier last week I was invited to the opening of Hotdog & Beyond‘s new branch in Hamra. For those of you who don’t know about it yet, Hotdog & Beyond is a new restaurant that opened back in August 2012 at Le Mall Dbayeh, obviously specialized in serving frankfurters as well as burgers. They opened second branch in Hamra just last week, and I was informed a third branch is set to open in Zalka sometime soon.

When I first heard about it, I personally thought Hotdog & Beyond’s items will be close to what we’re used to eat at places like Charlie’s or Freddy’s, but I was wrong, Hotdog & Beyond offers a totally different taste and experience.

The restaurant interior is catchy and makes you feel like you’re walking into one of New York’s small restaurants. Seats are comfy, and there’s enough space between the tables. And what grabs your attention at first is probably the complimentary bucket of peanuts offered to you before making your order.

Hotdog & Beyond’s menu has around 20 selections of frankfurters ranging between 9,750L.L and 16,000L.L, along with 10 selections of burgers starting 13,000L.L and up to 18,750L.L. The owners were generous enough and served us an item from each category including the appetizers and desserts!

The appetizers are mainly platters of fries with different topping on them. We tried the Four Cheese Fries and Con Carne Fries, I personally preferred the latter which has spicy minced meat (tastes a bit like Soujouk) with cheddar cheese on top.

For the hotdog, I decided to try their signature sandwich, the HD&B, wich is made of fried hotdog, red pepper, mushrooms, onions, 4cheese & pesto mayo sauce. To my surprise, the hotdog was cut into pieces, unlike the other varieties that had the hotdog in one piece. Anyway, the sandwich tasted really good and seriously different than any other frankfurter I had elsewhere. Every bite I had was full of taste, and the bread was just perfect, fresh and soft.

As for the burger, I tried what I usually order at other places, the Swiss Mushroom Burger, which was mouthwatering and great as well! It can easily make Hotdog & Beyond one of the restaurant you will be considering when you want to have a good burger.

Finally, and although I was full, the owners still insisted that I try 2 selections of their desserts, the strawberry cheescake, and a waffle with chocolate sauce, Nestle condensed milk, and scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. Both tasted good too, but I personally would have preffered the soft waffle to be crispier on the outside.

My overall experience was great, and I’m not saying that just because I got invited, but because Hotdog & Beyond are really bringing something new to town, and therefore it is totally recommended. Moreover, if they succeed at maintaining their good taste and service, I believe they will be serious competitors to big names in the market, especially that their prices are quite affordable when compared to other diners in Beirut.
