Qatar Announces Visa Free Travel for Lebanese Citizens

Qatar just announced today waiving the visa requirements for Lebanese nationals as we have been added to the list of countries whose citizens can obtain a visa upon arrival to Qatar. (Source)

Given the large number of Lebanese expats in Qatar, this is definitely a good news at least for their relatives here. However, I can’t but find it odd that we were not granted this privilege by a gulf state until its neighbors started imposing a blockade on it…

Brazilian Olympic Football Team migth call off their trip to Lebanon

Too bad for us, the much anticipated football game between the Brazilian Olympic team and the Lebanese national team might get called off due to the crisis in Arsal earlier this month!

According to this article in Al-Akhbar today, the Brazilian Football Confederation is now considering moving their training camp to Qatar to guarantee the safety of their players away from the security incidents here in Lebanon.

The friendly game will still take place though even if the Brazilians insisted on going to Doha but will be postponed till September 6th instead of September 4th.

Lebanese filmmaker Niam Itani at the Venice film Festival

Lebanese filmmaker Niam Itani will be competing at the Venice film festival with her short film “Super.Full.” in a competition announced by YouTube earlier this year.

The prize, aside from a trip to Italy, is a $500,000 grant to work with Ridley Scott’s production company Scott Free.
