Search for 7 in Lebanon

Yesterday I got engaged along with few other people in a fun activity by Nokia Lebanon called “Search for 7”, to win a new Nokia E7 (which I ended up not winning at the end!! :P).

The thing consisted of receiving a clue by e-mail every an hour or so, pointing us to a certain location in Beirut where we’ll have the opportunity to grab the E7 for free. The first clue was useless, while the second one indicated that the E7 will be waiting for us at 6AM Hawaii time (that’s 7PM Beirut time) in the location they’ll be hinting for.

The third clue just contained the below photo that looked to me a bit like Joe Pena’s in Gemmayze (which turned to be wrong later!).

The last clue, which made it easy for everyone, contained a QR Code, which after scanning it with my phone said “Meet us tonight at Pacifico to experience the new generation of communicators”.

And so I headed to Pacifico, had some fun with other contestants and some people from Nokia but eventually had to leave early…

Anyway, the good thing is that “Search for 7” will be open to the public starting next this week and for six consecutive weeks, where everyone in Lebanon will get a chance to solve the clues and win a brand new E7. So make sure to stay tuned to their Facebook page for upcoming details on the contests!

Update:
I just checked Nokia Lebanon Facebook page and noticed that they have already started giving clues for an E7 that will be given away tomorrow April 2nd! Good luck hunting 😉

Roadster’s placemat for Mother’s day

The placemat that Roadster is using for Mother’s day is quite funny and impressive!

You don’t need to know how she gets things done. Just be thankful.
Happy Mother’s Day.

Lebanonizing the sushi experience

If you find the combination of Sushi and Arguileh to be appealing, then Republic in Zalka is probably the place for you.

I went there few days ago and was surprised to see that they have recently added a sushi section to their menu, meaning you can now enjoy having your sushi while puffing smoke rings! 😛

On a serious note, I’m not an Arguileh expert but my friends claim Republic has the best Arguileh in town.

Footages of the internal security forces breaking into a BMW

An anonymous reader sent me these 2 videos showing members of the Lebanese internal security forces breaking into a BMW and driving it away to probably clear the street for a convoy or something…

Knowing that the authorities collect the phone number of all car owners in Lebanon, couldn’t they have looked up the owner’s phone number through his plate number and told him to just come and park it somewhere else? Or why not using a car carrier to move it away instead of breaking into it?

Also, notice how easy it is to steal a car, the whole thing doesn’t take more than a couple of minutes!

Amusing flash mob at Beirut Airport

Two friends of mine just shared this video on Facebook! Looks like some of Beirut airport staff performed on March 5th 2011 a dabke dance inside the airport premises to the rythm of a Houwwara song, and it turned out pretty cool!

I have no idea why did they do it, but I loved how people of all ages were participating, kudos!

Update:
Here’s another video, shot on March 4th, of a rehearsal for the dance. According to Biba from +961’s page on Facebook, the dance was done for an ad for Beirut Duty Free.
