Melting in Beirut

I was driving and melting yesterday in Beirut’s hot and humid weather when I noticed that the indicator in my car is showing a weather temperature of 43 degree Celsius!

We’re used to high temperatures in the 30’s, but 43?! That’s so Dubai! We’ve got no more snow in the winter, and summer is starting to feel like a living hell, I wonder how will it be like in the next few years…

Hiking from Rachaya Al Wadi to Ain Ata

A friend of mine introduced me to Footprints nature club back in March and convinced me to go on my first hiking experience with them to cross the hills from Rachaya Al Wadi to Ain Ata.

It took us around 4 hours to finish the 11 Km hike. The hardest parts of it was whenever we had to go down hills, it might seems weird but during a hike you put more energy when going downhill than going up.

I’ll leave you with some of the photos I took, the mountain showing in the panoramic photo is Jabal Al Cheikh which is known for having snow covering its peaks for most of the year.

Worrying news from South Lebanon

We’re currently receiving VERY worrying news from the south! From what I’m reading on news websites and twitter, it seems that Israeli soldiers were trying to cut some tree at Adayseh village in order to install some surveillance camera when the Lebanese army stopped them.

Following that, an Israeli tank bombed an LAF base and an exchange of fire erupted between the two on the borders. Now there are some news about Katyusha missiles fired at north Israel… let’s hope it wont get any worse than that!

I think Mashrou3 Leila is the only underground band to make it that big by performing at Byblos International Festival!

Lynn Bizri was generous enough to share with me some photos she took when she attended their concert on July 9th.

Lebanese beach resorts denying entry to foreign workers

I know you might have seen this video on other blogs, but I am re-posting it here to spread it as much as we can.

Beach resorts in Lebanon are known for denying foreign workers from swimming inside their premises after granting them an entry, but some places have gone a step further by not allowing those workers from even stepping inside!

The video below, taken at the Sporting Club Manara, shows Anti Racism Movement activists trying to get their maid into the swimming pool. The activists are allowed in, but not the maid!

Nemr Abou Nassar interviewing Paul the octopus

An interview with Paul the Octopus?! Who other than Nemr Abou Nassar can do that?

Last week and during his show, “The Comedy Revolution” on Mix FM, Nemr had the opportunity to get an exclusive with Paul the octopus who was predicting the winner of Germany’s matches at the world cup, and revealed the shocking truth behind his predictions!
