Touch is Into The Money Lending Business Now?

To all those who run out of credit before their line cycle is over, Touch recently added a new service to its prepaid Magic lines called “Advance Credit” allowing their subscribers to get an advance credit amount once their balance falls below $1, and it of course gets paid back once they recharge their line.

It sounds all nice until you know the rate at which the advance amount should be paid… A screenshot on Facebook shows that for a $3 in advance, $4.2 get deducted once the subscriber has enough credit again. That’s a whopping 40% in interest and it sounds more like usury to me…

Even banks are not that rude with their offerings… With such rate this must be Touch’s most profitable service right now! But then again, no matter how awful you think their tactic is, you wouldn’t expect less from a company operating in a monopolized industry.

Game of Thrones Board Games Available at JouéClub

IMG-20160524-WA0001

I was at JouéClub the other day when I noticed the Game of Thrones editions of both Monopoly and Risk were available there for 119,000L.L and 79,000L.L respectively. They’re a bit pricey but I guess the books and series fans will definitely love them. (I know I did!)

They’re unfortunately only available in French language, but I hope JouéClub gets the English ones too.

Cedarcom and their “Lebanese Want Fast Internet” campaign

There’s no smoke without fire.

And Samer Karam’s story today on Blogging Beirut comes to increase our doubts about the real intentions behind Cedarcom’s “Lebanese Want Fast Internet” page on Facebook that so far succeeded to gather more than 27,000 supporters.

What drives an ISP to suddenly make such page and call for fast internet to become a “right” for every Lebanese citizen? And since when Lebanese telecom companies care about customers? Or do they suddenly felt they should be more socially responsible?

Anyway, if you want to rally behind really transparent people demanding for better internet in Lebanon, make sure to join Ontornet page and Flip The Switch group on Facebook.
