OTV Prank Show Hits A New Low

haddeh-albak

Lebanese TV stations produce all sorts of bad shows, but OTV proved hands down that it can easily outperform all other channels!

I just learned today about their “Haddeh Albak” prank show featuring a psycho man who pulls the silliest jokes on people and tries to make it exciting by threatening their life in the process. In one of last month’s episodes he literally humiliated a poor Syrian guy by stopping him in the middle of a Kart circuit and stripping him to his underwear. He then put a flag in his boxer and made him run around aimlessly.

I can write on and on about how fucked up that prank was, but instead I will just point a simple fact to show what a failure OTV and that silly show are. The episode has been online on YouTube for around 1 month now (October 22nd), yet people didn’t react against it until yesterday, this goes to show how little viewership they have among other stations… Similar outrageous segments from other TVs usually become the talk of the town on the very next day, but this one had to wait a whole month for people to even notice it! If this is not a clear indicator of how pathetic their productions are, then I don’t know what is!

Anyway I hope their management realizes how wrong that prank was and cancels the show altogether.

Priceless: Haifa Wehbi goes crazy over a prank by Ramez Galal

Ramez Galal is an Egyptian actor who’s very known there for his celebrity prank shows during Ramadan. Today’s episode of his show “Ramez Ankh Amon” featured Haifa Wehbe who was terrified after getting locked in a dark room with a mummy! Her reaction though was totally priceless once Ramez revealed himself, she started cursing him and the crew together, at some point she even started hitting them!

If you don’t want to watch the whole thing, start at the 11th minute mark.

Ramez by the way also pranked Cyrine Abdelnour last year.

Ward El-Khal busted?

Looks to me more like part of a prank TV show to be aired during Ramadan, don’t you think?

Update:

According to this article in elnashra fan, the video turned to be nothing but a teaser for an upcoming series starring Ward, and the people behind it thought of posting the video on YouTube to create a media buzz around their new work, which eventually worked since they got more than 60,000 views in a couple of days. Anyway, I personally think it falls under cheap advertising…

Update:

The video turned out to be real and Ward is filing a lawsuit against whoever is behind the whole thing.

Update:

The whole thing was a promotion to LBCI’s new drama channel!

Beirut in 8-bit

The hoax services that Google announces on each April Fools’ day are more like a tradition, and the Google 8-bit maps service has got to be the coolest joke for 2012. They actually announced yesterday that they will finally be adding support for the classic Nintendo Entertainment System with the launch of 8-bit maps featuring low resolution graphics.

And here’s how Beirut would have looked like on a NES!

You can check here more about Google’s pranks for this year.

Almaza’s new valentine commercial

Is it only me or does Almaza’s new commercial look pretty much like an ad by Heineken done a few years ago where people had to choose between watching the champions league final and going to a classical concert…?

Almaza’s ad however leaves you wondering at the end “And now what?”, I mean the guys got cheered and stuff but aren’t you curious to know what happened to their dates?

I’d love to know what the guys at Brofessional Review have to say about it.

The mystery revealed

Turned out yesterday’s series was part of an advertising campaign for Alfa Telecom to promote the “Ehkineh” service. Someone from Alfa’s advertising agency e-mailed me the below video later last night and revealed that they were behind the idea and executing it.

In total, 6 shows were crashed on several radio stations during the day, and in this video you can listen to 3 of them that were recorded.
