Khanjar – The Best Honey in Lebanon!

FB_IMG_1472198621308

Yes you read that right, Khanjar 3asal akhou sharmouta!

I just saw the photo on reddit and several Facebook pages today. At first I thought it’s fake but someone on reddit claims it’s actually real and available at supermarkets in Baalbeck.

The label says it’s a product of South Lebanon and the description is funny as hell! Here’s what it says: “Men andaf mara3i el zaher fi janoub loubnan, la madroub w la maghshoush w la m7alla. 3asal msaffa bil tabi3a bidoun ala3ib w afleim w khouza3baleit w gala gala. Mantouj safi … w bet7adda akbar ras an yountej 3asal andaf min heik. Fa istamte3 bi 3assal khanjar w ghammid 3ayneik. Al wazen al safi: Abou noss kilo”

I hope someone can confirm whether Khanjar is really availale in Baalbeck or not. I would seriously love to get a jar!

Update:

Mahmoud Ghazayel did an awesome job tracing the source of the photo and practically found the producers of this honey. It turned out it is actually real and according to Rayan’s comment below, we should see Khanjar going on sale anytime soon when the legal process is all done!

A 110 year old Ottoman palace destroyed by fire in the South

palais_429085_large

Dar El Darwiche (or El Darwiche palace) in Zefta was unfortunately destroyed by a fire incident last week.

The palace is considered as a historic Ottoman heritage due to its architecture and the old antiques inside it, same as some of the palaces in Beirut like Al Daouk, Salam, Boustros, and Sursock.

Source

Below are some of the photos I managed to find on Facebook through Rabih El Darwiche. It definitely sucks to see it all gone now, and I hope El Darwiche family will be able to restore it soon.

Worrying news from South Lebanon

We’re currently receiving VERY worrying news from the south! From what I’m reading on news websites and twitter, it seems that Israeli soldiers were trying to cut some tree at Adayseh village in order to install some surveillance camera when the Lebanese army stopped them.

Following that, an Israeli tank bombed an LAF base and an exchange of fire erupted between the two on the borders. Now there are some news about Katyusha missiles fired at north Israel… let’s hope it wont get any worse than that!
