  • Lebanese Facebook population stats

If such figures interest you, below are stats about the Lebanese population on Facebook compiled by Nasri Messarra.

I’m not quite sure about it, but I guess these numbers show when you post some ad on Facebook.

  • Men El Ekhir – Arab Eagle

The average interview time on Men El Ekhir is around 10 to 12 minutes I guess, so why exactly would Pierre Rabbat and his team allocate 22 minutes for someone they just want to make fun of?

This guy, Kassem Boutah or The Arab Eagle, previously appeared on Arabs Got Talent and failed miserably.

  • Instabeat – The must have gadget for professional swimmers

I just came across this cool project called “Instabeat” by professional swimmer Hind Hobeika.

Hind is a former swimmer who used to train with the American University of Beirut’s swimming team and recognized the need for a monitoring device to track hear rate during her practices. So she came up with Instabeat, a device that is designed to fit any pair of swimming goggles to tracks a swimmer’s heart rate, caloric burn, and number of laps.

During practice, swimmers will be alerted through LED lights as to whether they are performing in fat burning (blue), mid-range (green), or maximum (red) zones. Progress over time can also be visualized after connecting the device to your personal dashboard through a USB port. Future prototypes will allow syncing data to your mobile phone using Bluetooth.

You can read more about Hind Hobeika and her Instabeat device on Intabeat.me. And if you feel like supporting her, you can take part in her indiegogo campaign to raise $35,000 needed for further development of Instabeat.

  • Maxime Chaya’s new adventure: Rowing the Indian Ocean

    maxime chaya

After completing the seven summits project in 2006 and the three poles challenge in 2009, Maxime Chaya is up for a new adventure in around 3 months from now, rowing the Indian Ocean.

Maxime’s journey will start in Western Australia and ends Mauritius off the east coast of Africa. And once the boat he’s boarding departs, there will be no way to turn back since the wind at that time will prevent it from doing so.

You can check all about this new adventure on this website RowingTheIndianOcean.com.

This video was shot 2-3 kilometers out of Jounieh.

  • Mashrou’ Leila to appear on El Bernameg with Bassem Youssef

    mashrou3 leila

I just came across an update by Mashrou’s Leila on Facebook announcing that they will be performing in Bassem Youssef’s show El Bernameg tomorrow night.

Bassem Youssef usually features Egyptian bands criticizing the Muslim Brotherhood with their songs, so I guess Mashrou’ Leila will most probably not be performing one of their songs but rather something special for tomorrow’s episode.

Thew show will be airing at 9:30PM on CBC and at 11:30PM on CBC+2.

  • 3G Capacities to increase by 50% for the same prices

    Sehnaoui

Great news to all 3G users! Minister of Telecommunications Nicolas Sehnaoui announced at NDU today that capacities for all 3G plans will be increased by 50% for the same prices.

It isn’t clear however whether the increase will be immediately effective or it has to wait until we renew the service.

    Update:

According to The Daily Star, capacities will increase as of May 1st. Minister Nicolas Sehnaoui claimed on twitter that capacities will increase as of May 7th.

  • Ahmad Mouselli vs Abdel Jalil Said

Ahmad Mouselli is by the way a Lebanese professor of political science at the American University of Beirut and was defending the Syrian regime, while the other guy, Abdel Jalil Said, is a member of the Syrian opposition.
