  • Another vibrator ad from the 1960s

Looks like these “massaging devices” were quite popular back in the 60s! You can check another ad I posted last year here.

Even though selling sex toys is considered illegal in Lebanon, I always spot some vibrators on display at some pharmacies like Mazen in Cornishe El Mazraa.

I guess legalizing these toys will definitely ease the tension between the sexually frustrated fighting militias nowadays!

  • Lebanese Rocket Society – The Film

In the early 60′s, during the cold war and the apex of Pan Arabism, a group of students and researchers enters the race to space and create the Lebanese Rocket Society. Sometimes, and specially nowadays, dreams can overtake a tormented history…

You can check more about the film on its Facebook Page and official website.

  • Vintage photos from Studio Shehrazade in Saida

Our man in Beirut shared this really cool find of vintage photos obtained from an old photography studio in Saida, dating back to the 1960s. The poses and the objects people choose to pose next to look quite funny! But that’s probably the same thing that’s going to be said about our photos in 50 years from now!

Anyway, the collection contains photos for people of all ages, including Palestinian fighters, a body-builder, and even two women french kissing. You can check them all here.

It would be really amazing is those people come across the collection and identify themselves!

  • Beirut in the 60’s

It looks much more beautiful to me than Beirut nowadays…

  • Vibrator ad from the 60’s in Lebanon

Good catch by @__marwan__! “Avenue des Français” is by the way what we now know as the Saint George area in Beirut.

And believe it or not, vibrators were believed to be of medical use to cure what was called “Female hysteria” in the past!
