On the occasion of April Fools’ day, today’s caricature in the Saudi newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat was simply our Lebanese flag as a statement that our republic is nothing more than a joke.
Not sure whether we should laugh or cry.
Update:
Asharq Al-Awsat ended up removing the caricature from their website following the rage expressed over it on social media.
In response to the Saudi cartoon of Patriarch Bechara El Rai that was published in Al-Watan newspaper last week, the below giant caricature was hung on Jal El-Dib highway this morning and was shortly later removed by the security forces.
Let’s hope it won’t cause any diplomatic crisis..!

I would have loved to see the reaction if it was Hassan Nasrallah or the mufti who’s being mocked instead…!

Illustrating what is happening in Beirut and various areas of Lebanon, this caricature is worth a thousand words. We don’t need skyscrapers with apartments that we cannot afford, just keep our beautiful Beirut as it is!
