Ziad Rahbani in concert next week

I was so glad to read that Ziad Rahbani will be performing in a concert next week as I’m a big fan of him. The concert will be held at a place called Event Hill near Le Royal Hotel on December 20th and 21st at 9PM.

Tickets will be available as of Monday at Boueiry Press Kasklik, Maarouf Saad Center, and possibly at Al-Akhbar as mentioned in Elie’s post, and will be priced at $40, $50, and $60 including an open buffet and regular drinks.

I trust the tickets will run out so fast but I hope I’ll get one for myself!

Check these two videos by Joe from Sting’s concert at BIEL which was part of his “Back to Bass” 2012 tour. I did not attend, but judging from the tweets I was reading I guess everyone had a blast that night!

Beirut Jam Sessions

Beirut Jam Sessions is the coming together of three passionate music lovers whose goal is to bring good music to Lebanon.

Those guys do so by featuring Lebanese bands and artists on their YouTube channel, in addition to bringing talented foreign artists, such as Emilie Gassin and Nadeah, to perform here in Lebanon.

Their upcoming concert is on November 27th at Solea V Sin El Fil, and will feature a 3 man band called “Pony Pony Run Run” from Nantes, along with a Lebanese band called Goldfish Parade (featured in the video above) who will be performing the opening act of this event.

Make sure to check Beirut Jam Sessions’ work on YouTube to get a glimpse of their taste in music, and if you’re interested in attending “Pony Pony Run Run” concert, tickets are currently selling for $25 at all Virgin Ticketing branches.

New album for Fayrouz?

Let’s hope this is true. Al-Anba (A Kuwaiti newspaper) posted today that Fayrouz will soon be releasing a new album and is currently busy choosing the songs to be included in it.

I also hope she holds a concert in parallel as I still have never watched Fayrouz performing live, and totally regretted missing the opportunity to do so in the last few years at BIEL and Pleatea.

Ziad Rabani to appear on Al Mayadeen TV

According to this article in Al-Akhbar, Ziad Rahbani is making an appearance on Al Mayadeen TV tomorrow night with Ghassan Ben Jeddo to express his opinion about the Arab Spring, talk about Assi El Rahbani and Fayrouz, and finally announce a surprise to his fans.

I personally don’t care about his political opinion, I just hope he’ll be announcing a concert/play anytime soon!

Anyway, if you’re a fan of Ziad, make sure to mark your calendar tomorrow at 9:30PM.

Protest against Armin Van Buuren in Beirut

Most of the international bands/singers/DJ’s who came to Lebanon for a performance have at some point performed in Israel as well, and because of that you see some activists calling for boycotting some concert every now and then. The way they choose which concert to boycott is beyond my understanding, but for some reason they decided to protest against Armin’s upcoming Concert NYE-1. knowing that he has performed several times in Beirut before.

The NNA reported that youth organizations and supporters of boycotting Israel staged a sit-in on Monday night, facing ‘MacDonald’s” in Ain Mreisseh, in protest against “DJ Armin Van Burren’s” visit to Beirut after partaking in concerts in Israel.

Van Burren is scheduled to perform in Beirut on December 30. Source

I might be wrong, but I feel like someone is just trying to irritate Mix FM (the organizers of this event) with this move, I mean If these people are serious about what they’re doing why don’t they protest against every single performer who has been to Israel, or better yet, why don’t they call for boycotting their albums as well?

Bank Audi’s music bands live at Music Hall

A friend of mine who works for Bank Audi invited me to a free concert they were holding at Music Hall where two of the bank’s music bands, “Band Audi” & “Audiyyat”, were performing to promote conscientious driving along with Kunhadi.

It was impressive to see these musical among Bank Audi’s staff, they were really good! Check the 2 videos I recorded, the girl in the first video has a striking voice.

Photos from Mashrou3 Leila at Byblos International Festival

I think Mashrou3 Leila is the only underground band to make it that big by performing at Byblos International Festival!

Lynn Bizri was generous enough to share with me some photos she took when she attended their concert on July 9th.
