Formula 1 Races Are Now Free to Watch on MBC Action

In case you didn’t know it yet, Formula 1 is now free-to-air in our region since MBC Group acquired the exclusive broadcast rights until 2023. The 21 races along with all practice sessions and qualifications will be free to watch live on MBC Action.

The rights were previously held by beIN Sports which I never had at home, so I’ve been missing the Grand Prix’s for several years now even though I have been a avid follower since 1997 when Nadim Mhanna used to comment on the races on LBC. The only problem though with being a returning fan after all these year is getting familiar with the new faces and all the regulation changes. And even though the opening race took place last week, I think the best way to warm up for the coming ones is by watching a new documentary on Netflix called “Formula 1: Drive to Survive”, which summarizes in 10 episodes everything that happened during the last season with a lot of interviews with the major key players in the championship.

So, here’s to an exciting season, and hoping Ferrari prevails this year!

Red Bull RB7 Meets Byblos and The Cedars of God

IMG_1936.JPG

For all of us who have never attended a Fromula 1 race yet, Red Bull made it up by bringing Carlos Sainz Jr. to burn some rubber in his RB7 racing cat at Beirut Waterfront. The event was unfortunately a bit dull for me as I couldn’t attend and watched it on TV instead which sometimes doesn’t give you a sense of how fast the car was going. I hope some professional videos will soon be available online, including some shots from an onboard camera would be cool too!

Anyway, well before the event, the Red Bull team took the RB7 for a photo shoot around Byblos and the Cedars of God. I found this set of resultant photos on motorsport.com and thought of sharing them here because they’re pretty cool.

I couldn’t find the name of the photographer by the way, so if anyone knows it please leave a comment to credit him/her properly.

Kimi Raikkonen in Lebanon

Kimi Raikkonen is currently on a short visit to Lebanon for the launching of Lotus Cars in Beirut, and according to this news report, he had a meeting with president Sleiman and announced that he’s willing to put the Lebanese flag on his Lotus Renault car during this season.

The report also mentions talks about building an F1 circuit in Lebanon, but is sounds more like wishful thinking, at least to me!

Lighting a candle for Ferrari!

I took this photo a while ago in “De Prague” at Hamra. I was just having fun doing some compositions with the candle in the frame.

Candle for Ferrari

However, after yesterday’s results in the first grand prix of the 2009 formula one season in Melbourne with Raikkonen finishing 16th and Massa 17th, I beleive I should light a candle for them! A BIG ONE!!
