On heavy rain
What’s the real use of a drainage system if it is unable to remove water when it heavily rains? Or is it designed in Lebanon to just accommodate the water that comes out of Im Salim’s house lama toshtof bayta?
To my bad luck I was on the road in Tarik El-Jadida when it was heavily raining in Beirut today, I’ll just leave the photos to speak about how bad the situation was there.

Exotica’s Different Christmas
Late in November I started following Exotica’s campaign for Christmas 2009 titled “My Different Christmas”, the campaign is apparently targeting internet users, because I haven’t yet seen its supporting video on any local TV station. And no we’re not used to that in Lebanon!
The idea behind the campaign is helping people to think and celebrate differently this year via a special blog by the “cool” Christmas activist “Lucie”. As you will see, Lucie is a funny grandmother posting about Christmas DIY gifts, recipes, and decoration ideas, and that’s exactly what I need in this period as I am participating in the secret Santa game at work! The blog can be found here.
The reason behind Lucie’s initiative to start the blog
I believe the purpose of the blog goes beyond just providing ideas, Exotica is actually doing a good job communicating with internet users in a way that is much different and more efficient than the classical newsletters we get on a daily basis in our mail boxes. I salute those who are behind this campaign!

Everything is different at Solidere
Parking meters around Beirut all allow free parking after 5 or 6 PM except in Solidere! As you can see in the below photo, free parking is only allowed after 11 PM (Monday to Saturday).
In addition, as shown in the below photo a flat rate of 3,000L.L applies between 8 & 11 PM (Monday to Saturday), and to my knowledge it doesn’t exist anywhere else, even in the busy Hamra street.
So what’s so special about Solidere to set the parking meters in it that way?!

What Rami says:
What I liked:
- Their friendly online customer service agent. I had a chat with them today pretending to be a customer and they were very helpful.
- The links on the left that make it easy on you to reach what you need to order based on your budget, occasion, theme, or recipient.
- They have an actual showroom unlike other Lebanese flowers & gifts websites.
What I disliked:
- Their blog, the posts are not related at all to each other. One post for example is about artificial rain! It should be used to communicate more with the readers. Maybe update them on the upcoming products.
- The overall design of the website. I am no design expert, but I think there’s room for improvement in the website layout.
