  • Boycott Spinneys?

Looks like there’s a campaign building up to boycott Spinneys because of treating their employees unfairly.

According to Abir Ghattas, Spinneys refused to abide by the government’s decision to increase wages, and went further by firing the employees who dared to voice their demands to the management by signing a petition.

Unfortunately, Spinneys is not the only firm who refused to give that increase to its employees, in fact many others also did the same, but luckily for them very few or even none of these cases made it to the media since these companies knew beforehand that their employees will prefer to keep their mouth shut than risking their job by making a trouble about the matter.

Anyway, now that the minister of labor is aware of the issue, let’s see if he will really have the guts to do something about it as promised!

  • Bull invades a supermarket in Dora

This bull escaped from Bouj Hammoud’s slaughterhouse and invaded a supermarket located in a gas station in Dora before getting stuck at the service area and die inside the pit!

It’s good no one got injured… I really wouldn’t like to be in the shoes of those who were inside the supermarket at that time!

  • Nemr & Jay Wud – Lebanese internet the song

As Nemr puts it, the song is a harrowing tale of love, loss, tragedy, and rebirth!

  • Vintage photos from Studio Shehrazade in Saida

Our man in Beirut shared this really cool find of vintage photos obtained from an old photography studio in Saida, dating back to the 1960s. The poses and the objects people choose to pose next to look quite funny! But that’s probably the same thing that’s going to be said about our photos in 50 years from now!

Anyway, the collection contains photos for people of all ages, including Palestinian fighters, a body-builder, and even two women french kissing. You can check them all here.

It would be really amazing is those people come across the collection and identify themselves!

  • Discrimination at Saint-George Yacht Club & Marina (Beirut)

The Anti Racism Movement in Lebanon is still trying to end the discrimination at beach resorts by not only naming and shaming as they did 2 years ago with Sporting Club, but also by reporting those who deny entry to foreign workers to the ministry of tourism, since a circular was issued a while ago banning discrimination at beaches and demanding fair treatment of all people, regardless of skin color, background, occupation, or nationality.

Check the below video showing how some activists behind the Anti Racism Movement reported a discrimination act at the Saint-George Yacht Club and Marina.

According to what they wrote in a blog post today, and as per the tourism police, Saint-George will be fined, and a date for the trial is currently being set.

  • Michel Helou VS Jamal Jarrah

Can you count how many times they both said “fasharet”?

  • Lebanese policewomen hit the streets

The below photo appeared in Assafir newspaper yesterday for an all women Lebanese police patrol on duty for the first time in Mar Elias street in Beirut.

Who knows, If our policemen can’t secure our streets from douchebags and their burning tires, maybe these ladies can do a better job!
