Bachir Gemayel The Series

FB_IMG_1472632228311

Bachir Gemayel is probably the most controversial Lebanese figure of our modern history whose personality was admired by his allies and opponents alike, and for the 34th commemoration of his assassination MTV Lebanon is showing a 5-episode documentary about him.

I personally have always felt curious to watch segments about Bachir’s short political life and rise to power, and there are several available documentaries on YouTube about that matter, but I believe this one is a must watch for those interested in our recent history because it was prepared by George Ghanem who already provided several great documentaries about Lebanese political parties and figures during his days at LBC. Moreover, the used material was provided by Bachir Gemayel Foundation and includes footage and speeches that were never shown before.

The episodes are being aired every Tuesday at 8:45PM with 2 episodes already out, and you can also watch them online here on MTV’s website.

Belghalat – A Satire Musical by Michelle & Noel Keserwany

michelle and noel keserwany

The famous Michelle and Noel Keserwany are collaborating with M Media on a satirical musical called “Belghalat”. The project is made of four episodes each criticizing a certain side of life in Lebanon through their witty songs.

Judging by the songs they made so far like Jagal El Usek, 3al Jamal bi Wasat Beirut, and Zaffatleh El Tarik, I highly doubt the upcoming series will be any less better than the previous videos.

The first episode will go online on February 15th, but I have no idea if the subsequent ones will be posted on a daily or weekly basis. Anyway, for now you can watch this teaser that M Media posted today.

Life expectancy in Lebanon

3024507-slide-s-4-lifeexpectancy

There’s some infographic on the design website fastcodesign.com listing the life expectance in almost every country of the world.

Where we are born has a lot to do with how old we will be when we die. Pointing out that “life expectancy is a synthetic indicator of the living conditions, health, education, and other social dimensions of a country or territory,” Duhalde chose to organize his visualization geographically, stacking the average life expectancy of countries on each continent in descending order in clusters based on landmasses.

According to that inforgraphic, if you are born in Lebanon in 2013, then your life expectancy is 75 years. That’s less than Jordan, Bahrain, Qatar, and Kuwait, and better than Oman, KSA, and Gaza Strip.

On the other hand, the best continent to be born in is Europe where most of the countries have a life expectancy higher than 80 years, with Monaco also having the highest life expectancy of 90 years.

You can check the complete infographic here.
