Chez Maguy Batroun

I decided to try Chez Maguy restaurant in Batroun after reading about it on several website claiming it serves some of the best sea food in the region.

The place is quite nice, it’s actually a small house (or a shack maybe) that was turned into a restaurant having a cool view over the sea since it’s located right on the coast.

During winter, I was told Maguy usually serves guests in her dining room, while in summer season you get to sit on the beautiful terrace by sea, but be aware of the mosquitoes when you’re outside, as they can really eat you alive!

Unfortunately the food was not as good as the restaurant’s setting. We were 4 people and among the order we made was 1Kg of mallifa, and below is the plate that we got, which is barely enough for one person! Anway, overall the food tasted quite average compared to other seafood restaurants, unlike what some articles on the internet claim.

We had another kilogram of fish with a couple of appetizers and drinks and our bill came to $120.

I don’t know how to provide you with direction to the place, but if you’re planning to go there just ask about Chez Maguy when you reach Batroun as everyone there knows where she’s located!

P.S: I know the review is missing a photo of Maguy, which is plain stupid from me!

Agree – the place became too “famous” and quality of food / service went down, as opposed to prices.

You should try La Maree in batroun next time – cheapest yummiest sea food you will eat – no seaside tho

Hope you enjoyed batroun still <3

Totally agree- I had the worst experience with a group of friends. it was quite horrible actually, we ordered all the Lebanese appetizers and a big grilled fish. The food at the begining was not fresh at all, the fish came after an hour and it wasnt even well cooked! After that the bill was absurd.. Long story short we went to talk to Maguy because we are old customers, we tried to tell her that her service changed and the quality of food is below average. Before we know it she starts HITTING my friend and one of the waiters took an old knife and wanted to stab my other friend. WE STARTED RUNNING FOR OUR LIVES. This story is real, I was traumatized for a whole day!! haha. Bad memories..

I went to Chez Maguy last October upon the recommendation of a good friend. I remember it was a lovely experience and all the food was great and fresh. The place is somehow shabby and outworn but this is its main selling point. And I quite liked that about it; I love places that are real, small, imperfect and unpretentious.

I haven’t been there since October so I don’t know what might have happened.
