Billboards FAIL

Have you seen the latest 14 March billboards in the streets, and in specific the one below?

soit-egale-et-vote

It really is so obvious now, the Free Patriotic Movement are leading straight in the ads game, while 14 March are breathless behind trying desperatly to catch up. “Sois egale et vote”, they really call that a reply? And in the first place, did the FPM claim in their “Sois belle et vote” ad that women are inferior? Silly meaningless reply, that’s it, period.

What really got on my nerves though is the billboard that says “I think there14 I am”. How do you read that? And what does it mean?!

    Well, I respect ur opinion but I don’t agree 🙂
    the FPM tackled a “silly” issue… wich is the beauty… to be beautiful is relative… what if i’m not beautiful? dont i have the right to vote :P? but on the other hand, 14 march billboards are more like stressing on the fact that it’s not important if u r beautiful or not… the main issue is the equality between men and women.. and if u read their election program, u’ll find a whole section about that 😀

    @Smurfette
    I don’t know why people insist on focusing on the “belle” part only and disregard that the FPM replaced the “tais toi” by “vote”, it’s a call for not keeping her mouth shut.

    Concerning the election program, I honestly have not read any program neither for 14 march nor for any other political group, simply because they all set objectives but non of them explain how to achieve these objectives.

    “I think there14, I am” means I think, thereFORE I am.
    It’s a stupid ad, to be honest. Doesn’t make any sense.
    FPM are definitely leading with the ads ‘battle’.
    I loved the FPM ads which were placed at the airport.
    One said: “Departure from corruption on June 7” as you were entering the airport.
    The other said: “Arrival to change on June 7” as you were leaving the airport.

    That is pure genius.

    The “Sois belle et Vote” ad is referring to the french saying:”Sois Belle et tais-toi”.

    I’m surprised it is not that known for people to misinterpret it.

    @ Smurfette

    The FPM ad was insulting to women because it tells them what to do (orders them around); not necessarily because it tells them to be beautiful. The March 14 ad does exactly the same: it’s men ordering women to do something. Equally dumb ad, therefore. (Plus: they ALSO put a beautiful woman on the billboard, so their supposed ‘equality’ is in the order only, not in their own actions. Blegh.)

    Absolutely agree about the copy/pasting ads.. Why do they feel that they have to reply to every single billboard? Doesn’t make sense to me.

    @nicolien: this exactly expresses my opinion about those billboards!

    Yes, that’s it, period. 🙂

    I’m not focusing on the belle part… but it’s just that the whole thing has a negative connotation…
    w abt enno why does 14 have to reply….. well it’s election campaign guys!! since the 2 are opposed….. do the maths…
    and Nicolien… if they did put an ugly person , what would u hv said?

    This discussion is, sorry to say, retarded. Instead of focusing on Hizballah’s actions over the past 4 years – war, economic shutdown, civil strife, civil war, hello!! – and the FPM’s actions – support and cover for all of the above, along with consistent collaboration with the Syrian regime starting in 2005 (including lying about the circumstances of Aoun’s return) – you’re here looking at posters.

    Good for you, I think I have more of a thought process on what I want for the country than billboards.

    @ Smurfette: If they had put up an ugly person, I wouldn’t have said anything. However, because you seem to be put off by the fact that the FPM wants you to be beautiful or otherwise you don’t count, I felt I should point out that the March 14 billboard does exactly the same, only not with their words, but with their picture.

    @ Blacksmith Jade: I’m glad you think that we all need to focus on Hezbollah 24/7. I, for one, also take some time out of my day to look at other things, like the gazillion billboards that are thrown in my face wherever I go. One doesn’t exclude the other, you know.

    @Blacksmith Jade
    7elo ktir, so not discussing politics is retarded now?
    I don’t give a damn neither about Hizbullah nor about 14 March, they treat me as a number, so why should I give them importance on my blog and discuss their actions 24/7?
    I was amused by the billboards war though!

    Enno ente yaba hala2 jeye ta3mol de3ayeh la 14 March?
    Roo2 3a 2allah shway.
    We’re discussing billboards, and the ideas each billboard presents.
